ROAD CONSTRUCTION MAKE DA-CHIEF’s INTERNET GO POOF!

Folks we were due to record a netcast tonight. We are going to have to re-sched our NETCAST scheduled for tonight to later this week. Some road construction was being done on our block and a truck backed into our Cable connection on our block. I am right now writing from a coffee shop. Hopefully it will be back up later tonight but not in enough time to record the netcast. I apologize for this issue. Look out for a update later tonight once I contact all the powers involved in this endea

September 1st is launch day for the new library web site and catalogue for Darien Public Library – John Blyberg has been working hard over the last few months to get things ready. It is more than just the launch of another good looking library web site and catalogue though. John has been working on a total rewrite of his SOPAC (Social OPAC) that had it’s first outing at Ann Arbour, one of the poster children of Library 2.0 OPACs..
Raise your hand if you’ve taken a tour. Raise your hand if you actually paid attention and/or remember every little detail of the tour. My point exactly. We understand that traveling as a herd with your classmates isn’t the most enjoyable experience, regardless of whether you’re checking out the library or a museum. That’s why there’s now a podcast tour of the library! Ronna will guide you through the three floors of the library while you listen on your MP3 player without anyone knowing that

I received the following question last week pertaining to copyright and audio recordings of full length books: I want to write a grant to have my 3rd graders record podcasts of some of our library’s picture books for our K, 1, 2 kids to listen to from home. I’d post them on our website on Podcast People. Would that be against copyright laws if we put them on a website' I’d appreciate any thoughts you have on this. I need to start this response with my typical disclaimer: I’m not a lawyer– for

Mark was in Philadelphia last weekend to attend a conference called PodCamp Philly. The sessions focused on social media and podcasting. After delivering a session, Mark was approached by Melissa Thiessen who told him about an exhibit of art and children’s books by Maurice Sendak. So, on the Sunday, Mark and his three new friends piled into a car and hustled out to the Rosenbach Museum and Library where they raced through the exhibit in thirty-minutes during a break before rushing back in tim
