Library Podcast

by Podcast library (podcast-library) @ Mon, 26 May 2008 04:01:08 -0400
I just wanted to announce our new podcast. Future podcasts will feature storytimes for children as read by some of youth services librarians. But since April is National Poetry Month we thought we’d kick things off with a reading of the classic by Edgar Allen Poe, The Raven. The Raven, is probably Poe’s best known work and is so well-known its been parodied on the Simpsons and even has a professional football team named after it in Poe’s hometown of Baltimore. Today is ‘Good People Day’

by Podcast library (podcast-library) @ Sun, 25 May 2008 04:00:22 -0400
Today is ‘Good People Day’ Posted April 3rd, 2008 Gary Vaynerchuk of Wine Library TV fame has deemed today–April 3, 2008–”Good People Day.” To learn more, watch this video. The minute I heard about this, I loved the idea. There isn’t some hidden viral message or agenda here. It is about letting the community know about good-natured souls. Vaynerchuk’s hope is that people will use whatever medium they are into to do this. I personally think I’m going to blog and video podcast somethin Shared & Reseller Webhosting

Wild Child Publishing event and podcast

by Podcast library (podcast-library) @ Sat, 24 May 2008 04:01:23 -0400
Last Tuesday, I interviewed Jack Maeby, author of The Thorazine Mirrorball for our first inaugural podcast. As we will be at the Venice Abbot Kinney Memorial Library on Saturday, April 5, 2008, from 3 to 5 pm with two other authors, I thought it was timely. Jeff Sherratt and Deborah Grabien will be joining us to discuss large, conglomerate publishers vs. independent presses. Considering all that has been going down with Amazon lately, this could potentially be a very interesting discussion. So, Shared & Reseller Webhosting

Houston, we have a problem…. Lunar and Planetary Library

by Podcast library (podcast-library) @ Mon, 19 May 2008 04:01:52 -0400
The Lunar and Planetary library based in Houston, Texas has over 50,000 items and 170 journals with a focus on astronomy and geology. On this library’s homepage you are hard pressed to find any Web 2.0 tools. It is once you start looking that under the library’s “What’s New” page that you find the option of subscribing to RSS feeds about news and recent additions to the collection. As with other libraries there is no description of what RSS is or how to use it. As someone who is new to this te Shared & Reseller Webhosting

Next on the assembly line: The Ann Arbor District Library

by Podcast library (podcast-library) @ Sun, 18 May 2008 04:00:20 -0400
Upon arrival at the Ann Arbor District Library’s homepage, it doesn’t appear as though the library is using any Web 2.0 tools. Appearances, however, can be deceiving. Once I inspected the site a little closer, I was pleased to find that there are Web 2.0 tools in use and that they meld almost seamlessly with the rest of the content on the web site. The first tool to be found on the homepage is, once again, the RSS feed. There is both the RSS symbol, though in a different color from what has b

Podcast blast

by Podcast library (podcast-library) @ Sat, 17 May 2008 04:01:59 -0400
I was rather psyched to see the podcast week in our training since I have been meaning to get on that band wagon for a while now.  I have a soft spot for CBC Radio and not enough time or forethought to hear my favourite shows, but ah ha!  They have selective podcasts now...and now that I'm well versed in the art of podcast retrieval I will finally get myself in gear! I explored YouTube like many a time before, but did the suggested Hamilon Ontario search...some people have some extra time to b Shared & Reseller Webhosting
