Folks we were due to record a netcast tonight. We are going to have to re-sched our NETCAST scheduled for tonight to later this week. Some road construction was being done on our block and a truck backed into our Cable connection on our block. I am right now writing from a coffee shop. September 1st is launch day for the new library web site and catalogue for Darien Public Library – John Blyberg has been working hard over the last few months to get things ready. It is more than just the launch of another good looking library web site and catalogue though. John has been working on a total rewrite of his SOPAC (Social OPAC) that had it’s first outing at Ann Arbour, one of the poster children of Library 2.0 OPACs.. I received the following question last week pertaining to copyright and audio recordings of full length books: I want to write a grant to have my 3rd graders record podcasts of some of our library’s picture books for our K, 1, 2 kids to listen to from home. I’d post them on our website on Podcast People. Would that be against copyright laws if we put them on a website? I’d appreciate any thoughts you have on this.
